Mr. Matthew Loewen
Math and Science Teacher
I was born in the “City of Champions”, Edmonton, Alberta. I moved to the UAE 3 years ago and have been teaching at Maplewood Canadian International School ever since. Previously, I have had my own class where I taught Grade 3, 4, and 5 in Alberta; however, I have almost taught at every grade level through substitute teaching.
When I am not teaching, I play Rugby with the Abu Dhabi Saracens and I enjoy almost all sports. I have been blessed with an amazing wife from Ethiopia - whom I met here in Abu Dhabi - and a beautiful 13-month-old daughter. My family is the most important thing in the world to me and I get an outstanding amount of pleasure watching my daughter grow and discover the world.

Ms. Beth Dixon
Social Studies Teacher
Hello! My name is Beth Dixon and I am from West Cork in Ireland. I taught for two years in Ireland before moving to the UAE. It is my third year here and am thoroughly enjoying my experience so far (especially the sunshine!).
I teach Social Studies to grade 7 and 9 here at Maplewood Canadian International School as well as ELA to grade 8. I am also the Coordinator of Middle School. When I am not teaching, I love to travel and explore new places, meeting new people in the process. Although, I wouldn’t say no to a day in either; baking some yummy treats or getting stuck into a good book.
